A composting toilet is an excellent solution for use in a variety of places, particularly where it is difficult or impossible to install a septic system or hook up to a traditional sewer line. There are an enormous number of potential applications for composting toilets, but in this article, we’ll examine five of the more common locations where these fixtures are used.

Marine grade composting toilets are a great option on board a houseboat or yacht. Traditional toilet fixtures on boats require hookups and pump-outs, an unpleasant and cumbersome process that requires the boat to dock on a regular basis. For vacationers who want to spend several weeks at a time on board their boats, without having to return to port on a regular schedule, a composting toilet is a great option because it’s clean, odorless, and efficient. Most importantly, composting toilets are self-sufficient, providing a lot of independence to boat owners. Continue reading ‘5 Applications for Composting Toilets’ »

It is a wonder how the new gadgets of technology have tremendously helped people in managing the tasks they have to do every day. In an age when everything seems to be made instantly, people are afforded the convenience of performing chores as quickly as possible. We have coffee makers and toasters to make instant coffee and sandwich toasts. We have dish washers to automatically wash the dishes in just a touch of a button. We have vacuum cleaners to readily clean the dry carpet. You can think of some errand that requires too much effort and the probability is someone out there has already invented, or at the very least, is thinking of inventing a machine to ease the burden.
Unfortunately, however, these household appliances will never truly function unless someone operates them properly. They may also even not achieve their maximum capacity unless the very people owning them know how to take care of such household equipment. Take the case of a simple washing machine, for instance. While we know that it takes care of our dirty laundry day in and day out, seldom do people bother to check from time to time whether it needs to be already cleaned or not yet. One of the more common issues when it comes to washing clothes is the accumulation of mildew in the clothing and even in the washer itself. Mildew is that thin growth brought about by the proliferation of molds, which are either black or white. While molds are abundant everywhere, the only way that mildew can be created is when there is sufficient moisture and damp temperature to nurture the growth. Some of the more common areas where one needs to take a closer look are in cellars, basements, crawl spaces, and even clothing closets.
The growth of mildew also needs to be observed carefully on draperies and rugs found in basement and recreation room, on shower curtains of bathrooms, and on damp clothing due for ironing. Molds can likewise be likely spotted in a new house owing to the moisture of the new building materials used. As the mold flourishes, it will eventually cause substantial damage and leave musty odor, which nobody in the household wants. Continue reading ‘Behind The Mildew And Mold Problem’ »
